We first entered the Kent Wedding Awards in 2013 full of hope and proud of our lovely venue but we knew that the competition would be tough. We were therefore thrilled to be chosen as a finalist and attended the awards dinner for some 300 people, with members of our team. We cannot tell you how proud and delighted we all were to be announced as winners at our first attempt. Since then we have been nominated as a finalist each year and were again outright winners in 2016 and 2019.
On each of the three occasions that we have won this prestigious award all of our hardworking, committed team at The Barn have shared in our joy that our desire to be a more “personal” wedding venue has not only been recognised by the many happy couples who have celebrated their weddings with us but also the judges in this highly competitive awards event.

The Barn is unique in many ways not least in that it has been rebuilt from a centuries old Elizabethan barn which was originally constructed in a Kent village and re-erected on its present site some years ago. It has been erected in the traditional Kentish style with oak beams and columns and this creates a truly wonderful atmosphere.
However, this is not the only unique feature of The Barn, as a wedding venue.
If you chose to have your wedding with us we will offer you the exclusive use of the whole premises – restaurant and bar together with our attractive courtyard style garden which has also won local awards every year on a very regular basis including 2018 when we scooped four Gold Winner trophies in the various gardening award categories for Royal Tunbridge Wells.
Not many Kent wedding venues offer sole and exclusive use of the entire premises just for your special day.
We are licensed for civil ceremonies which are held in our beautiful new orangery, overlooking the lovely garden, which many of our brides and grooms have told us is the most perfect intimate and personal room for this occasion.
Yet another unique feature of The Barn for couples who select us is the opportunity to offer their guests three or four options for starters, main courses and desserts rather than being restricted to a set menu.
Another important policy which we have at The Barn is that regardless of the day or time that you chose to marry the prices remain the same.
Again uniquely we do not employ so called “wedding co-ordinators” and the only persons that you will deal with are Philippe and Janet Sorak, who have managed The Barn for some 28 years and they will give their undivided attention to your wedding requirements both leading up to the special day and on the day itself when Philippe will ensure that it will be an outstanding success for you and your guests.
This personal attention has been one of the key factors in our having been so successful in winning the Kent wedding venue awards as the judges’ comments have included the following:-
“The judges described the Barn as a delightful, intimate and exclusive space rather than just a venue. They loved their cost transparency, lots of dining choice and ability to create a bespoke menu. Beautifully maintained and lovely both in daylight and at night, judges were impressed with the hands on approach of the team to create a perfect day and thought the 1st anniversary invitation for dinner and champagne a lovely added extra.”
